Make this holiday season work for your business.

It’s December 8th and you’re probably thinking, well, whatever marketing plans we’ve prepared (or lack-thereof) are happening (or NOT happening) and that’s that. It’s too late to do something different.

I’m here to tell you that’s not so my friend! After reading this article you should be able and inspired to capitalize on the season's cheer for your business.

Let’s look at a couple of easy things you can do over the next two weeks that will increase your sales over the coming month, and into the new year.

Have a look below and find the types of products or services you sell for some guidance! If this leads to some actions we’d love to know! & feel free to tag us @risemarketingexperts

Products or services that make great gifts:

People are always looking for the best gifts and suggestions on what to give. Let’s quickly make a plan so that your gift options are in-front of the right people over the next few weeks.

  1. First, I’d like you to jot down your top three products or services that would make the best gifts. Be specific.

  2. Then jot down what types of people would want these products or services as a gift on Christmas (this should be easy - think of your regular customers).

  3. Now, write down who might be buying gifts for these people. Remember that the person who will receive the gift may be a very different to the person who will buy your products or services as a gift. Think of a husband buying beauty products for his wife. If you were selling these beauty products and your regular customers are all women you need to go outside your regular audience to sell these products as gift ideas.

Got those down? Great. Now let’s take action…

  1. Keep the buyers in mind and ask yourself: Where can you share these gift ideas with these people? Is it social media, on your pages or someone else's? Can you ask someone you know to share the post with their audience? Remember, it would be someone who matches your buyer’s profile. Or you could design 3 posts on the Canva app and put a little money to boost them on Facebook or Instagram. Say $20 for each post. You could also write a press release with a nice story about your company and your products or services.

  2. Without overthinking it, make that decision now, and write down three actions you’ll take to promote those three products or services.

  3. Now do at least one each week until Christmas. Good luck!

Products or services that might feel weird to gift someone else:

Sometimes you just don’t know if your products or services could make a great holiday gift. Before you decide they aren’t, think about your regular customers. Would they be happy if someone else bought them what you are offering?

Let’s imagine for a minute that we’re talking about dog walking or therapy sessions. These may feel odd to gift, especially when there’s a repeat purchase associated with it. You could create an offer and send it directly to your current customer base and give them a creative way they can ‘add it to their wish list’ and share the idea with their loved ones.

For example, you could send an email to all your customers and share a link to purchase a gift certificate and say that you’ve made it an option for sessions to be purchased ahead of time as a gift. With emails like this, the copy is very important but you know your customers best so follow your intuition.

You can be creative and take a not-so-obvious Christmas gift and turn it into a sales AND gift opportunity for you and your customers.

Let’s put this into action! What is one thing you can do this holiday season to put your product or service out there as a unique gift idea?

Products and services for other businesses:

Business to business selling... You will know all too well that when the holidays approach, sales usually slow way down. But, that doesn't mean you can’t make the best of this feel-good holiday.

Maybe you’ve thought about sending some Christmas cards to current customers? Or gifts to your most important clients? Spending time on building your relationship with your current customers can lead to higher revenue the next year.

Can you think of a couple potential clients you’d like to get to know? Maybe you can plan to take them out for coffee during the next month to chat. There’s plenty to talk about beyond business this time of year and because it’s such a happy time for many people - it can help you build stronger, more emotive relationships with potential clients…

In this sector of business, I like to think about the holidays as a relationship building opportunity!

Whatever your business, you can take some quick actions TODAY to create greater impact in your business tomorrow.

Much love,
